Honda CBR Comparison

So, I sold my Ninja and want to upgrade to either an 07-08 CBR 600RR or an 08+ CBR1000RR. I was leaning towards the 600 just cause they run cheaper, however, I found an 07 CBR 1000RR in my area for a steal of a price and low miles. I haven't looked at it yet, but I plan to.

Here's my question; besides the engine size (duh), what is the difference between the 600 and 1K as far as looks? I don't to go look at a 1K where someone is trying to pass off a 600 for a 1K. You would think Google would help, but not so much. Just looking at pics, the '07 600 and '07 1000 look similar on a monitor. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Um, it's pretty much just the engine. As far as I recall, there's really nothing else different (besides the stickers saying the size).

And I'm sorry to be the "mom" but how long did you ride your ninja? You may want to reconsider unless you've put in probably 10k miles of riding time in. The vast majority of "first wrecks" happen between 3500 and 5k miles because people get too comfortable and think they know what's up. The Ninja 500 is a GREAT bike that's SUPER forgiving, but don't go too extreme too fast.

Finally, I'll probably always lean toward 600ccs because they are lighter, more forgiving, and more "flickable" although with super sports there's usually not that much difference. The truth of the matter is, NO ONE will ride a 600 super sport to the edge of its capability - especially not on the street - so the 1k is mega overkill and is basically a "pee pee measuring contest" for those who own one.

Ask the owner if you can look at the registration, it will have everything you need to know about the bike on it. If you want to tell and only have access to the bike itself, the stickers on the tail should indicate what size the motor is. If they're gone, look at the tach, it also says whether it's a 1000 or 600. Or just going by the numbers, the 600 redlines at 15K rpm, the 1000 redlines at 12K.

That being said, stepping from a 500 to a 1000 is a big jump. I'd advise progressing to a 600 first. The Liter bike will still be there in a few years if you feel you still need more.

As an owner of an 03 CBR954RR, the 07's are a weapon not for the feint hearted.

I went from a 250 to a 96 Gixer 750 (old and slow by todays comparison) before going the final step to a litre bike.
I'm 6'4 and about 220 pounds, so I need a decent overall sized bike to sit on, hence why I looked at the litre bikes.
My next bike will be a 750 as most guys on litre bikes like to be able to say they have a litre bike, but on the curves a 600/750 will eat them up while they're busy trying to control the power.

Litre bikes have so much power these days they are hard to ride full tilt.


Also the latest 600's have almost as much HP as my 03 954. In a lighter frame
