CHECK ENGINE LIGHT.. PVC line?

99 Silhouette 3.4...Need to find out how to route and connect the PVC valve's plastic tube on back side of engine. Looks as if a vacume line should connect to the end of tube as it bottlenecks down, but when re-installing it I could'nt find any loose line. Gormet was shot at valve cover also. Now check engine light keeps comming back on with a code concerning the emissions evaporator something another.I forget the exact code at the moment, but I suspect it has something to do with this PVC line.. Any help in what connects where would be appreciated alot...

Get that code first....you talking about the tube that comes out of the rubber snorkle, and goes into the rear valve cover?

Yes, Connects to the PVC valve on front side.Could'nt see where it connected on back side (aside from pluging into rear valve cover) as it is so tight back there(coil pack blocking view),and it kinda pulled completly lose to where ever it connected before I could determine what else it pluged to.Tube continuals after it tee's into the rear valve cover, and gets alot smaller as if a small vacume hose might plug onto the end.Just did'nt see any hose back there. Also had to remove EGR valve and did'nt replace a new gasket.Looked fine at the time and I was miles from any parts store.May that also cause the code to come up? Thanks!

I don't think the PCV will throw a code, but the ERG will. I had the same problem of the PCV hose from the rear valve cover popping out. That line doesn't have a valve, but goes from rear valve cover into the boot, ahead of throttle body. I think the your line goes into the throttle body, not the back of the engine.

Re: CHECK ENGINE LIGHT.. PVC line?

The location you want is down behind the spark coil behind the engine. The line needs to connect to the evap cannister purge solenoid which is mounted just behind the ignition pak--the bracket for the solenoid shares the same mount bolts as the rear two on the ignition pack. Very hard to reach back there, but if you pull off the front mounts and roll the engine forward a bit you can get to it. The vacuum line goes from the top of the manifold forward to the pcv valve and also to the rear of the engine where it connects to the evap solenoid.
Without that vacuum, the system will throw a code for evap purge system failure. Also, it won't idle well with the open line just hanging out.
