Definitly get the metal/rubber gasket set. It solves the problem of the gasket slipping in the center of the head.

Get.
The problem solver is the metal/rubber gasket.
We are not parts people.
But.
Your parts place should be able to come up with the part no depending on what brand gasket you want or what brand they have.
If they try to sell you the plastic gasket just pitch it back over the counter at them.

Re: which intake gasket kit for a 97 5.7l

If I remember correctly the gasket set I bought was Felpro and it had the metal/rubber gaskets. Sorry, don't have the part number.

FEL-PRO PermaDryPlus is what some forum members used.

go to the silverado section there is a lot of intke gasket proceedures and methods to do this properly .

using wooden dowels in the bolt holes when droping the intake on is a great idea, I got from that posting.
