ATF Instead of Power Steering fluid
Hi everyone, my first post in a while. I tried doing research with no definite success. My question: Is it ok to use ATF instead of PS fluid in my 97 GPGT N/A? Both are Hydraulic fluids and I've been told that ATF would keep the PS pump cooler however, I'm not sure if that applies to our vehicles...TIA

Re: ATF Instead of Power Steering fluid
In a pinch you can use ATF, but P/St fluid has more antifoam agents and seal conditioners than ATF does.

Re: ATF Instead of Power Steering fluid
I actually PREFER ATF rather than power steering fluid. Power steering fluid is corrosive.

power steering fluid corrosive? Why is it that way? Are there compounds in its make up that make it so? please explain your statement?
