Rear Defroster Grid
So I recently bought a second vehicle, and the other morning when I went to use the rear defroster I realized it didn't work. The previous owner took the tint off and destroyed the defroster grid. There are multiple breaks in each line. It will be impossible to fix. Is the only way to repair this to have a new window installed or is there some other way to heat a back window without a defroster grid? It was a cheap vehicle and I don't want to throw a lot of money into it.

Re: Rear Defroster Grid
You can get a cheap defroster grid repair kit at places like Amazon and your local parts store. Here's an example:
http://www.amazon.com/Permatex-15067.../dp/B000HBI9YQ ![]() It's essentially just copper paint that reconnects all the broken gaps and allows the electricity to flow through again.

Re: Rear Defroster Grid
Thanks but that isn't an option because literally 75% of the grid is destroyed. This car is a honda prelude and the back is very cramped and hard to work in.

Re: Rear Defroster Grid
Then the only other option is to replace the rear hatch glass or do without. The little fans you can buy to defrost rear windows are like mini hair driers and they simply don't work.
