Re: 1998 duick lesabre turn signal
You have a broken cancelling spring on the turn signal switch. Yes, the steering wheel will have to come off.

Re: 1998 duick lesabre turn signal
It's not that tough. You'll need a lock plate compressor to access the t/s switch after you remove the steering wheel. You'll have to deal with the air bag also. If you're not comfortable with it, find someone qualified to do the repairs.
Good Luck! |

Re: 1998 duick lesabre turn signal
I've done this job before. As gmtech says, you have to disable the airbags. This step is probably the greatest hastle. I was nervous walking around the the airbag knowing that if it did go off, it could do a lot of damage, even kill if you held it the wrong way. However, I've never heard of anyone getting killed by one.
The second most frustrating part is disconnecting the horn brush. Mine broke the little plastic holder in the horn cam requiring replacemnt of that piece also. However, removing everything allowed me to clean and relube the signal lever mechanism. However, don't do this if you're not sure how to safetly disable the air bag. (A factory service manual is a good idea, cheap from ebay.) |
