Engine/Tranny Bucking

I have a 2001 F-150 Supercab with a 5.4 and auto tranny with 115K miles on it. The past few days I started getting a bucking condition at around 1300 - 1500 rpms and it is more pronounced under load, i.e., on an uphill. I don't know if the bucking is engine related or tranny related. No codes are being generated. If I accelerate past 1500 rpms it stops bucking and goes away.

I am leaning towards engine problems first and I plan to change the air filter and clean out the throttle body, and put some injector cleaner in the tank. If that doesn't solve the problem then I plan to pull the plugs and check the coils and plugs.

Since the problem is only happeneing between 13 and 15 hundred rpm I don't suspect converter shudder, but that will be my next step., before suspecting tranny trouble. The tranny fluid is clean with no odor of burnt fluid.

Any similar experiences? Any help will be appreciated.

ll i can say is do your general maintenance first before assuming a problem
