I have a 1999, S-10 pu, 2.2L, AC, ps, and a nearly dead alternator (excessive whine & low output). What is the best route for removing the unit once I have it unbolted - I can barely see the bolts let alone get the unit out. It appears going down is a possibility but space is limited, or going up by removing the intake piping? Any suggestions?

Thanks for all that looked at my post - I dug in and got the alternator changed out in about 45 minutes. For future reference, 1)Pull upper radiator hose from radiator only and tie back, 2) Unclip AC hoses and tie back, 3) unclamp plastic intake pipe from air filter and intake manifold - then remove by loosening 3 rubber grommets, 4) unclip signal wire & unbolt alternator, 2 bolts in the front and 1 in the back, 5) pull alternator out from the top through a space by the vacated air intake piping, 6) remove red wire.
