Smile Lights wont go out

I have a 1995 S10 ZR2. The interior light will not go off when I close the doors. I have replaced the door switch buttons and still no help. is there some kind of control box for these or something. I have to remove the fuse just for light to go off inside. And no i havent left the light turned on at the headlight switch. But is it possible that the headlight switch could be the coulprit.

Thanks

Re: Lights wont go out

Just had a thought about this...Is there a switch of somekind for the light bulb under the hood? I see that there is no bulb in the socket. so maybe thats the issue? How does the light under the hood get activated?

Re: Lights wont go out

A lot of times this is caused by the switches not getting fully pressed when the doors are closed. As they get older the doors sag or door panels may have moved or not been reinstalled properly after a speaker change... any of these can cause a misalignment. To eliminate this as the cause, I would start by getting a friend to help you. Each of you get a side and fully press the button by hand. If the light goes off, you've found the problem.

Re: Lights wont go out

If that does not turn them off check head light switch dome light overide /switch.
Or optional dome light on/off switch.
Let us know how it goes.

Re: Lights wont go out

Ok, I tried holding the buttions manually, no luck. I changed them both out(cheap enough). I then unplugged the plug that plugs in the headlight swith and no help. Now im going to look at the glove box swith and see if that may affect anything. Tell me if im wrong but if i unlug all the switches and buttond then they sjould be off right? I really need this fixed because i cant use my horn with the fuse unplugged as they are same circuit.

Thanks

Glove box light has it own ground citcuit.

On dome light about 5 things can be grounding it out and /turning it on.
Interior lamp control module.
Did you give it time to time out?
Rear view mirrow lamp.
Keyless entry module.
Head light Dimmer switch
And door jam switches.
On tail gate did the dome light used to come on when tail gate up.
Another place to consider.
Remember it is grounding some place to turn it on.
Unplug all of the things that can turn it on.
If that does not kill it you have a wire grounded some place.
Let us know how it goes.
