85 Seville wont start please help

So I have had this car being worked on for weeks and the problem is unclear. The car belonged to my ex and it has set for years not running. First the battery keeps dying on it. I've had the battery checked and it's good. The alternator has been replaced too so that isn't it either. Secondly it isn't getting enough fuel we replaced the fuel pump which was no easy feat in itself and tried to start the car and nothing. It cranks but won't start. We flushed the fuel lines too. After checking it again the fuel pump blew so what would make a fuel pump blow? Is it a short or grounding issue somewhere in the car? Anybody have any ideas to help me out. I love this car and when it drives it is a dream. Please help me out.

These are too vague to try and diagnose on the net, what does the fp blew mean, it failed, no pressure, doesn't run, doesn't prime, blew a fuse? Will it start spraying starter fluid into the throttle body. Battery goes dead, has anybody checked for drains when the key is off,?
