Ok I have a few things I need to know about this motor. A friend of mine has a 90 integra a women rear ended and totaled it. Well he said he will sell me the engine, ecu, tranny, and whatever else I need off the car for $300. Well it has 180k miles on it and a oil seal leak. First question, is it a good investment?
2) Ok he also said for me to think about it to make sure I want to do it, is the swap hard and expensive or is it wrather simple as far as no cutting? 3)How much horse power and torque does the B18 put out stock? 4)Would it be better to do this and a rebuild with low compression pistons or to do the same to my D16A6? |

Yeah..it's a good deal...Get it and rebuild the motor...the oil leak is prolly just a seal. I replaced all my seals when I rebuilt my ZC.
For the deal you are getting, you can rebuild the motor for the same price as getting one with less miles. I think b18b's put out about 130HP.

yeah its a good deal, just get the engine rebuilt. but the other things youll need are alittle expensive, like you need aftermarket mounts, u can buy them from hasport, also u can either shorten the stock shifter or buy one from hasport. u need the engine, tranny, ecu, axles, wiring harness, resistor box, the vacuum boxes, throttle and clutch cable. if your car is an si you dont really need the wiring harness or throttle calbe, but its always nice to have a spare.
to mount the motor isnt really hard, its kinda just liek dropping a motor, i mean its not really any harder, no cutting is involved, just need to smash in the frame alittle and bend down the lip in front of the rear mount. if u do the swap yourself, probably cost u around $600 for the mounts and linkage plus any miscellaneous stuff u need, like maybe a clutch, water pump, timing belt, etc. oh another $200 if u wanna keep the ac. so i say with the engine rebuilt and all the parts youll need, probably come out to around $2000 total, which is good |

Why will it cost another $200 to keep the AC? Also is there any place that sells a rebuild kit or whatever that has like all the seals and gaskets I need? I don't need like a full rebuild kit with pistons. I'm going with low compression ones.

because your civic ac compressor wont bolt up to the b18a, and if u decide to use the b18a ac compressor, well its gonna cost more to discharge then recharge the ac system, the bracket is worth it i think

I didnt have to do all that when i swapped my motor in?? All i did was smashed the frame where the alternator is at so the pulley wont rub the frame. |

You basically have EVERYTHING but motor mounts and customed shift linkage. Like everyone here says rebuild it . Let me make a suggestion. I know its a bit pricey but i think u should replace it with aftermarket pistons and rods. Get the block honed/bored a lil. Get ctr pistons (300) and get Integra type r rods. Then just replace the seals, gaskets, timing belt, water pump and maybe u might wanna check on the oil pump also. Hope this helps.
For mounts and shift linkage... www.hasport.com www.hcpengineering.com P.S. Stay AWAY from place racing shift linkage. They're garbage! |

I don't understand why I can't just use the AC compressor off the integra.

Also can I not use the shift linkage off the teg? Also won't my Civic Si wiring harness work on the B18?

You could use the shift linkage off from the integra but you have to cut off an inch or add inch? I dont remember which. Yes you can use your existing harness. |

i think they said for the integra shift linake u gotta take off like 2 3/8 ", i think, idk they said it in that article on scc when they did a b18a swap, but thats asssuming your using hasport mounts. other moutns might move the engine forward or backwards

Im using hcp 4 mount kit. The engine sits lower and its more room in the engine bay.
