Front door Hinge

2007 4wd 2500HD Ext Cab

My front drivers door is sagging. I checked “AllData” but all I can find is the following statement: ”The door hinge pins and bushings are not replaceable. If the hinge pins or bushings are damaged, replace the door hinge as an assembly.”
I am wondering if this is a job I can do myself. Anyone have a procedure for this? Hinges don’t appear to be welded but I’m not 100% sure.

Re: Front door Hinge

You might want to check the dorman section @ your local auto parts store for parts.
A new hinge is probably $350, I have rebuilt hinges for a LincolnTown car, that were not suppose tobe rebuildable.

It was a matter of cutting the pins off, and matching the bushings + pins, see
http://www.dormanproducts.com part # 38437

Thanks for the reply; do you have any kind of a procedure for doing this?

Re: Front door Hinge

Had to go back a few years, see http://lincolnsonline.com/tech/00045.html

You might consider buying a used one from a junk yard, and practice rebuilding it.

Appreciate you finding that procedure, I will have to see what I can find around here for parts. Hope this works as well on the truck as it did on your Lincoln.
Thanks again.

Re: Front door Hinge

AllData is kind of a replication of the GM service manual. So what you're seeing is buy this part from the dealer.

Do a Goggle search for door hinge replacements. Many parts stores have them in stock.

Best to you.

Thanks Stickman, I have found them at many places online; if I can’t find them locally I will order them up and give it a shot.
