Engine replacement 2000 Regal GS 3800SC

Considering replacing the 3800sc in my 2000 regal GS. Can the motor be taken out from above, or does it have to come out the bottom with the drivetrain?

Re: Engine replacement 2000 Regal GS 3800SC

The ideal way is to remove it from the bottom. It may be possible to remove it from the top if you remove all the accessories, exhaust manifolds and disconnect the flex plate from the transmission. This should give you enough clearance to remove it from the top. Just don't forget to support the transmission so that it doesn't drop down and bind the engine in place.
