Re: 88 silverado 1500 electricle problem

My dads went out on his 88 a few years ago. He had between 90 and 100,000 miles and all it was was I had to change the drivers and the passanger side swiches. Cost 25.00 for each one at the dealer. I would at least make sure I had power to the switches first. If you don't may have a fuse blown. Good Look.

Thanks, fiserman. None of them work on either door. Door locks don't work. Would it be the same fuse?

Re: 88 silverado 1500 electricle problem

I think it may be the same fuse but not sure. Been a long time since I changed his. Check your owners manual if you have it, it will help. But I can tell you when his went out I had to change All switches, all window switches and all door lock swiches they couroded or something and I checked all switches and they all were bad. All your switches may not be bad. I paid about 25.00 dollars a switch so I wouldn't recomend doing that unless your sure they all bad. Thats why I would make sure your getting power to them first. I can tell you if the drivers side switch is bad it can keep the passenger side from working but it should not effect the door locks.Good Luck

with a meter check all fuses..then check for power/12 volts at all fuses engine running.....then check driver door for power at the door window/lock switch....

key off windows usually will not work, but door locks will..this would mean 2 fuses..

door wiring,connector in door,ignition switch, fuseable links..etc...etc.....

with not having a voltmeter you will have a very hard time finding this ..

Re: 88 silverado 1500 electricle problem

My '88 wiring diagram shows two 30 amp circuit breakers (not fuses) on the right side of the fuse panel. One is ACC/IGN for the windows and the other is ACC/BATT for the door locks. Both circuits share the same ground source.
