2001 Lincoln Ls won't start
I need a mechanics advice or suggestion. I have a 2001 Lincoln Ls V8 3.9L I was driving soon after filling my gas tank halfway and within 5minutes the car stop receiving power slowed down and shut off. At first I figured bad gas and added a fuel cleaner which did nothing. I have changed the fuel filter and main fuel pump all 8 spark plugs and have checked all emissions coils. I'm out of answers for what the issue may be other then that it's minor because the vehicle would still start but immediately shuts back off without any misfiring. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Re: 2001 Lincoln Ls won't start
A good suspect for your symptoms (sudden stall + starts and dies instantly) is the MAF sensor. This is exactly what happened to me when a bug got on the sensor (the air filter box wasn't tightly closed).
I think that you can test for this by unplugging the MAF sensor electrical connector. If you do this and the engine will start and run (you'll get a check engine light), then you can try cleaning or replacing the MAF sensor. |

Re: 2001 Lincoln Ls won't start
I have now tried testing the MAF sensor and that did not work. I then also changed the vacuum port switch and the crankshaft position sensors and the car still will not start. I'm unsure of anything else that could be the issue to try and check any help is greatly appreciated.

What are the chances you have access to either a scan tool with datastream mode or a handheld oscilloscope?

Also, I seen a number of gen I LSes now with faulty PCM relays. So, you might try swapping that one out too. (Note that if it's the PCM relay, your PATS light should be flashing when you try to start the car.) |

Re: 2001 Lincoln Ls won't start
I have put it to a scan tool and it comes up with 3 codes. No DTC definition code 1 is c1676
code 2 b1805 code 3 u1262. Also i have already tried using quick start yet it will not start and i have also checked and changed all bad fuses. |

Re: 2001 Lincoln Ls won't start
Did anyone ever find out what exactly these codes mean? I just got a 2001 Lincoln LS v6 3.0 and i have the exact same codes. The difference is mine will actually run but in very poor condition. Its seems like its missing really bad but i wanted to check the codes before hand because I know to replace the coils is somewhat expensive. Also, the oil light comes on after being driven a short distance- maybe 3-4 miles. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: 2001 Lincoln Ls won't start
U1262: SCP (J1850) Communication Bus Fault
B1805 Lamp Turn Signal Rear Output Circuit Short To Ground A "C" code means a chassis code not related to "P" codes powertrain. So the C code not a misfire or trans issue. |

Re: 2001 Lincoln Ls won't start
you can always call a ford dealer and ask the service department about the codes as well
