Tie Rods

So I recently had a buddy do a bunch of work to my car. Replaced the strut mounts, ball joints and the tie rods. I took it into Pep Boys to do an alignment. After having the car there for about 7 hours, they call me up and say that the adjusting nut is too tight and they can't break it loose. They tried to heat up the nut to break it loose and still couldn't.
My question is, is that bad that they heated up the new tie rods?
