how to change tie rods?
I'm in the middle of changing tie rod ends in a 2000 Cirrus, and one is completely rusted to the tie rod. This isn't my car, and the owner doesn't have a repair manual. It's not obvious from the part how to remove the old one. Can someone please tell me how to remove the tie rod (tie rod end is still connected) on the passenger side of the car??
thanks - |

Re: how to change tie rods?
seems like there are special tools to remove these things?? do they all come with various size attachments for the flats on the tie rod?
unfortunately it looks like we need to get the outer tie rod end off? perhaps I'll have to cut the tie rod shaft? any advice? we have still not been able to remove the outer from the inner. |

Re: how to change tie rods?
You can try to heat up the tie-rod end where the jam nut is. First i'd try a good penetrating oil like PB Blaster and let it soak for a wile.
