1967 STP Paxton Turbine Indy Car Finished

Once the paint dried it was just a matter of attaching all the little parts that I had already prepared…
The kit is the 1/43rd white metal SMTS with decals I created to replace the poorly rendered and yellowed kit supplied ones. Paint is Tamiya TS-36 Fluorescent Red.

Just what I expected. The name 'Scale-Master' says it all.

Re: 1967 STP Paxton Turbine Indy Car Finished

when you say "turbine car" do you mean that's the engine the car is running, a gas turbine engine?
never seen anything like this before, when did it race and for how long?
gorgeous looking model by the way, great work in such a small scale, my fingers are far too fat to do anything this small

Yes, it used a 550 HP Pratt & Whitney turbine engine and was four wheel drive. Led most of the race until a bearing failure. Here is a link with info and pictures of the real car: http://www.turbinecowboy.com/carstru...67IndyTurbine/

Thanks Scale-Master, what an interesting read on such an unusual car. In typical fashion after such a successful first outing it was banned from racing the year after, Just think where F1 and Indy racing would be now if it hadn't been!

What an unusual subject! Never heard about it before. And I would have never thought it was 1/43 had you not mentioned it - looks good enough for a bigger scale.
