Revell z8, BBS

Hey everyone,

So I just finished this and haven't totally cleaned it yet. Just wanted to post some pics, finally! The whole thing was a learning experience. Prior to this, I couldn't lay down a decent paint job, couldn't flock, couldn't use BMF or photoetch...well you get the picture. Basically, I didn't know how to build a model car! This thing took long to build because I kept having to redo what I'd already done.

Just a curbside, nothing special. Lots of home-made and aftermarket parts though.

Thanks for looking! Comments and criticisms welcome

Nick

Oops, cat fur.

I could smack Revell for not making a symmetrical front plate. That's ok though...First time I ever used decals anyway.

Looks really good, great shine off the paintwork. I like the wheels, definately suits it. Are the centres of the wheels standard?

Thanks! And no, those wheel centers are my ex-girlfriend's piercing studs

Very nice! I don't think the steering wheel really suits the style of the car, but I like everything else. You might want to add thin chrome strips around the tail lights - they are present on the real car.

I absolutely love these cars, and this is a stunning scale example. I actually saw one driving behind me a few weeks back in the mountains and couldn't keep my eyes off the mirror. Beautifully done.

I'd thought about that, but I'm not sure how I'd do it.

I figured, there are a lot of incorrect details on this car, and that's just another to add to the list. If I really wanted to be accurate, I'd have placed some clear plastic into the side indicators too...

Beautiful car! You are too modest. You really have talent to have built a model of this caliber.

I love the lines of this car...very remniscent of the early 60s late 50s BMW roadsters.

If you cut a thin strip of foil, you can bend it around the tail lights - I did this on my Z8 and I think it's worth a try. I'm suggesting this not because it would make the model more accurate, but because I think the model would benefit from little chrome accents on the back.

Paint job looks flawless, and the interior looks tidy.

OOOH shiney! Great interior, paint and details. I hope the black paint on my 'black widow' comes out as well as yours did.

Thanks! I'll be watching your build. Still trying to figure out how you wrap the carbon fiber decals so well.
