96 t bird bogged out no start

[1987ss]

1996 4.6 been havin issues with hesitation when ya step on gas. other night we were on freeway it started to bog down made it to destination when we left made it a mile and it bogged down and stalled restarted it made it off freeway let it sit it restarted and was bogging down if ya give it gas. then stall.. saw plug wires arching had it towed home so changed em blew out cylinders chaged plugs no luck.. its gettin 30 psi koeo and goes to 40 while rotating.. gettin spark and coils are ok, injectors tested at 15.0 ohms so they ok. if you wot the pedal it sounds boggy but will run real weak and boggy. tried starting fluid no luck. like a week ago cat was glown it quit scanned it then got back theese 0401 0151 0131 1152 1151 1131 please help.. also found a vaccumme leak at pcv valve fixed it too.. dont know what next? gut cats?

I would take the oxygen sensors out that are before the cat and see if it runs then. Glowing cat pretty much means glogged cat. If it run with the sensors out you found your problem.

thanks tempfixit pulled out 02 fired right up what ya think? hollow out both? oh yeah tried puttin sensor back in it stalled out.. now i can sleep tonight. lol

Your call, depends if you have to pass inspection or not. How long do you plan on driving car, etc. I suspect the check engine lite will stay on if you do.

not able to unbolt cata bolts real rusty. shop wants 1100 to change booth any tips or ideas anyone? how about a web site with deals on parts for exhaust?

From what I see there is only 1 cat for the 4.6 engine. I would get the parts and see if any hsop will install.

When you removed the 02 sensor to see if car would start where did you remove them from??? Was it after the 2 resignators before the cat?
Are you calling the 2 resignators by the exhaust maniflds cat's and the converter at the end of the pipes the resignator??? Where is the downstream (After cat) 02 sensor located? Should be on the cat at end of exhauxt pipe before the tailpipes or are there 2 sensors, 1 on each tailpipe?

i'm thinking your cat is plugged you let it get glowing red you have a big chance of catching your car on fire.

no .. 2 cats are first 02s before and after both of em then resingator then mufflers

you got tuff laws there in wisconsin don't you on testing vehicles for your smog and everyting don't you? i need to replace mine in my 79 malibu but i took cat off and knocked the center out. and so far i'm getting away with it but it's a saturday and sunday car only.

Do you know of anybody that could weld them on? Looks like cheapest route unless you gut them.

i need to update my profile im in minnesota now and there are no emission test at this time. how much force is required to hollow out a cat? im worried about braking the 2 studs off the output of manifold... they bolt to each other(cats,manifold) . you think heating up the inside of the cat will help make it easier ? thanks

thanks i talked 2 a muffler shop they recommend gettin a aftermarket direct fit said universals are alot more work due to the positioning .. gonna try gutting it
