83 S10 keeps blowing gauge fuse

I just had my transmission rebuilt and after picking the truck up from the shop, it blew the gauge fuse. When this happens the gauges stop working and it seems like the alternator stops charging. If the head lights are on the warning buzzer(the one that comes on if you leave your lights on with the key removed) sounds off. I change the fuse and it will last for a bit and blow again. Any chance that the electrical connection to the transmission is causing this? If not, any ideas what may be causing it?

More like there is a pinched or shorted out wiring problem other than transmission wires.

The monkey wrench usually goes back to the last person that worked on it.

I would take it back and ask them to check it out.

If not look all wiring over in the back of engine and transmission area where the transmission replace work was done.
And check the oil sending unit wires real close.

Let us kbnow how it goes.

Re: 83 S10 keeps blowing gauge fuse

After getting a wiring diagram and chasing everything that runs through that fuse, I found that it is indeed the Transmission Control Solenoid. Which is what the wire on the trans plugs to. With it unplugged, it no longer blows fuses and it also shifts properly. It's going back to the transmission shop tomorrow. This is definitely their problem. I didn't want to take it back to them and have them think it was something else that I was just trying to make them fix. Even though I know I never had this problem before they rebuilt it.
