Iron Man!

I am wondering what is the difference between a spyder and common version of R8. Or I will modify a hard top R8 to a spyder version...

All spyders are V10 (the Revell R8 coupe is a V8) and of course the wheels are different (and I like the spyder ones somewhat more). That's not to mention that the bodies are quite different.

With 110 parts I suspect they will do.

Re: Revell Audi R8 Spyder

I wouldn't be surprised if they just did a re-jig of the existing kit parts to make it look like a/the V10; point being, it isn't guaranteed that the kit will have a new and correct rendition of the V10 engine.

Re: Revell Audi R8 Spyder

It would be a pity if they didn't do it properly - Revell really seem to be putting out some good stuff now and they'll harm their reputation if they mess it up...

...On the other hand, the R8 was a slightly earlier release and nowhere near as "sharp" as new stuff like the SLS so there's room for improvement!

Re: Revell Audi R8 Spyder

If you look in the photo from Luc Janssens, the front grills have 3 slats instead of 2. The V8 version have 3 black slats set into a body colored grilll surround. The V10 version has 2 slats set into a black colored grill surround. The Revell illustration on the website has a car with 2 slats, but the prototype shown has 3 slats. Also, the grill appears to be the V8 version rather than the V10. It seems to me that Revell is mixing up the details. The wheels come from the V10, the black grill surrounds from the V10, but the 3 slats in the grills are from the V8. Looks like this is going to be an R8 Spyder V8.

Re: Revell Audi R8 Spyder

think it will be completely a new model and not only a conversion of the previous r8 kit.

Re: Revell Audi R8 Spyder

why would they do a completely new model when they have a lot of the tooling available?

Re: Revell Audi R8 Spyder

because there are anyway too many differences between the 2 cars, so engine, all the body, the cockpit, all the clear parts....
From the closed version they probably can take only the wheelbase and maybe tyres. Not so much more, imo.
This makes this box is a new model.
