it might sound stupid, but... have you checked for leak? if the hose is broken somewhere it will allow air in, and also oil out. Also check that you have enought brake fluid.

Re: 2002 grand am brake problem

did the brake fluid resivior run dry??if so & there are no leaks you may
need to keep bleeding.you may need to pressure bleed or use a scanner
if we have air trapped in abs motor.
hows the brake pedal feel now?still go to floor?
if car has enough braking you can try driving to force air pocket
then rebleed

Re: 2002 grand am brake problem

no,i mentioned the scanner for bleeding brakes.if air gets really trapped
in an area like the pump, the use of a abs compatible scanner will help & may be needed
Good luck

Re: 2002 grand am brake problem

why was the hose replaced, did it burst??which one L/R??
not sure how you bleed system, but if you can get a gravity
bleed going & let it bleed for awhile,it may work for you
Good luck

Re: 2002 grand am brake problem

So basically, you lost all braking power and no leak? and didn't ran out of fluid?

if so, stop bleeding, you have a defective something. Master cylinder or ABS...

With the engine off, but key to on, does the brake light turn on, then off? or stay on?

Re: 2002 grand am brake problem

no we did not loose all braking power the car stops just pedal goes to floor on occasion then needs pumped up. an i started bleeding with the rear passenger then rear driver then front passanger and front driver i believe that is the right way if not please let me know. i was thinking master cylinder but when i talked to some mechanics they said it would go to the floor all the time.
