silverado exhaust
Does anyone know if I'll be able to put 2 mufflers on my truck. Thinking about getting some Flowmaster's. I got under the truck earlier to see if they would be enough room, and im not sure if their is.
08 regular Cab Silverado, 4x4 Does anyone on here have 2 mufflers installed on their regular size silverado? Thanks |

the OEM mufflers would not be used . keep the pipe diameter the same. |

Re: silverado exhaust
If your exhaust is dual inlet to the factory muffler, then you could go with 2 single inlets or a single dual inlet muffler.
I recommend Magnaflow, Dynomax Bullets, Spintecs, or Hooker Aerochamber mufflers. I have a 14"x4x9 Magnaflow muffler I'm my truck, I love it. Quiet at idle, and loud upon opening the throttle. The longer the case, the quieter it will be. I have it dumped over the axle with a resonated tip. Dynomax Bullets are pretty good sounding also. I've never had one, but I do know the effect is similar to Magnaflow mufflers. Externally, they look like a glasspack, but on the inside they have perforated tube inside, like Magnaflow. Glasspacks have a louvered interior. My judgement on Spintechs and Hooker Aerochambers are like the Dynomax bullets, I've listened to some clips, they sound good, but I haven't had them myself. I'd stay away from Flowmasters unless you want to deal with the drone they produce.

Re: silverado exhaust
My old shop where I did mine does custom pipe bending. Did mine for 87 buxs, coming off of the cat I put a 2.5" cherry bomb glass pack then put a y-pipe backwards to split it. Get compliments all the time about the sound, not too loud and has a nice tone. I personally have had a good exp with magna flow but go with stainless b/c the mufflers are allways the first thing to rot.

Re: silverado exhaust
I didn't know that, something new every day....
We use cherry bombs and vortex mufflers which are just flow master knock offs. They allways rot on the side where the pipes enter and exit.

I forgot to mention as the other members stated. only use high quality stainless steel pipes and mufflers. the performance shops will help you select the sound your looking for ....Or no sound which is what I look for. even here in rust belt the stainless steel lasts over 10yrs..forgot to say ss hardware also ! |
