Synthetic oil?

I have a 2002 Durango SLX. I going to be making a cross country trip pulling a small U Haul. I notice synthetic oil is a lot more expensive than regular oil. Does that mean it's better to use it and would anyone recommend I replace my oil and switch to synthetic?
Thanks

Re: Synthetic oil?

How many miles are on your Durango ?
How often did you change your oil ?
Did you replace the plugs, Air filter, gas filter?
Make sure you getting the best EAP gas mileage, befor long trip.

I just bought the truck. I'm planning on doing a complete tune up. A couple of people have suggested Amsoil oil, oil filter and air filter. What do you think?
Thanks

Re: Synthetic oil?

If over 100K miles!

AIR -
Air filter (K&N), clean MAF/IAT sensors, and connectors with CRC MAF sensor cleaner, and use dielectric grease for all electrical connections.

New upstream H02 sensors, and save the old ones for down stream spare.

FUEL -
New fuel filter
Fuel pressure test

Ignition -
New plugs + wires, and dielectric grease on spark plug connections.

Exhaust - Make sure your catalytic converters are not plugged.

Correct - Air pressure in tires

AMS Oil is expensive, I would consider moble 1 from Walmart..
