Re: Silverado power window problem

you need to remove d/panel to diagnose
it sounds either the w/regulator broke or window is disconnected from reg.
my guess you'll need a new w/regulator
good luck

Re: Silverado power window problem

there should be 6-12 plastic push clips & a couple screws holding panel
to the door.remove arm rest & window switch & anything else on panel
never did a silverado but should be simular to all panels
BTW autozone.com may have the r&r procedures

Re: Silverado power window problem

If it is the same as the 2000 Silverado, there is no clips to remove.(that type of clip is popped off to remove the door panel, like the door panel for the Grand Prix) The door panel is carefully slid(pulled) up to gain assess to the window regulator. There is also the plastic that is on that door that has to be taken off also, and saved. Just Google, 2004 Silverado door panel removal. It will show you how to remove the door panel.

Re: Silverado power window problem

Thank you for all the excellent advice. Problem fixed.
FYI. Cold weather (freezing) caused the window to stick. When I tried to lower the window it came out of the track. After removing the door panel, I was able to access the brackets (rubber lined) that hold the glass in place. Loosen the brackets, refit the glass, and retighten the bracket.
Works fine. Thanks again for all the help.

Re: Silverado power window problem

In my opinion these trucks have a really crappy electric window system. I had a motor go out in the drivers door last fall, it worked for 2 weeks after i installed the new one, then poof quit working, weather been really crappy, today the weather was nice for once, i removed door panel. reinstalled switches to plugs tried to operate, nothing happened, checked plug at motor nothing happened. I noticed the whole rail system has alot of movement when i pushed on it, then Bam like magic now it works again..... nothing was loose, i checked everything ... I guess it was jammed, Im still wondering why it would jar by driving enough to make motor stop all winter, but never jar loose while driving, over 5 k miles through the last 3 - 4 months on the same roads.

Re: Silverado power window problem

I had limited time to mess with it due to having to work tonight, but im going to go through it better tomorrow, i dont think its an adjustment, and i replaced the motor and actuator, it worked perfectly for 2 weeks, then I had the issue. I just believe these trucks had many issues. I dont want to give the wrong impression, I like my truck, it has alot of miles but i still enjoy driving it.

Re: Silverado power window problem

I think it is the quality of the part that we are getting, they are not up to par. On my wife's Silverado I have replaced the passenger side 3 or 4 times. Including again last week when the temperatures were in the mid to upper 50's. Prior to this recent replacement, this one lasted about 4 to 5 months before it crapped out. The motor gear sounds like it is slipping or grinding. I kept that regulator and I am going to order just the motor from Rockauto, that is where I got the window regulator with motor. It only took me about 15 to 30 minutes to complete the job.
