Turn Signal Issues

I have a 96 blazer and the turn signals stopped working. They were flashing either really fast or really slow for a couple days. They would even completely stay on while I had the turn signals on. Now they do not turn on at all. The hazzards work. I just replaced one of the side marker bulbs that was burnt out and still nothing. Help please!

Re: Turn Signal Issues

First thing to check is rear brake lights for working good and bright.
And check with signals on left and then right side the off.

All turn signal bulbs need to be working good and grounded good for flasher to flash good.

Turn signal flasher and hazard flasher are separate.

Check for good power on both sides of turn signal fuse in IP panel.

Then check for power coming threw flasher to turn signal switch on purple wire.

If flasher power to turn signal switch and everything else like brake lights and dash lights and other electrical stuff working good then check for proper power from turn signal switch to turn signal bulbs.

There is a lot of problems with the 4 way flasher switch that may be made into turn signal switch.

Flip it on and off and wiggle and pull on and off and see if anything changes on turn signal switch operation.

Let us know what you find with these checks.

Re: Turn Signal Issues

First thing I checked last night was the voltage running to fuse. When I turn a signal on I have 11.62 volts running to the fuse. I noticed that when I touch the fuse to make the link I hear a short pull from something in the dash, but the blinkers dont turn on. My brake lights are fully functional. I noticed on the fuse cover that the same fuse powers the back up lights and they both work as well. The side markers work head lights work hi and lo beam day runners work. I am not sure where the flasher...

Are you using a white box imported fuse?

Touching fuse should not make any difference.
When checking fuse always check voltage in a nd out like both sides.
Is plugin on fuse good and tight?
Have you looked in owners manual for flasher location.

If you can get it blinking listen for the location.

Re: Turn Signal Issues

2 Way/regular flasher should be in power distribution fuse /relay box under hood.

Check for volage to it and threw it to turn signal switch and if you have another know good one handy try it.

Let us know how it goes.

Is this referring to the 3 relays that are on the firewall just to the right of the ac?

No.
I looked for location in my repair program and it gives the power distribution box with flasher relays as behind center of instrument panel instead in under hood fuse box.
Have you checked your owners manual?
Have you checked for good power on both sides of fuse?
Fuse wiggle and or touch and some noise under das sounds like a problem with the fuse or fuse holder or wiring.
Let us know if that is still going on.
Have you tryed the wiggle and push and pull 4 way button on and off.
If 4 way still works listen for and find 4 way flasher.
Then look for 2 way flasher close to it.
Or go to turn signal in wiring and see if you have voltage from flasher on purple wire into it.

May point to your problem.
Check flasher and if good move on to flasher into turn signal and check for proper signal switching to brakes and turn signal light.
Let us know how it goes.
