1996 ranger 4r55e tran help

Hi all I im alittle confused. I started to rebuild a 4r55e and im stummped. Im working on the valve body and when I got to the #2 shift solenoid I found that there was no valve retainer plug, and no solenoid regulator valve behind it. My ATSG book shows that they should have been there.
Can anybody help me with this.
