don,t replace multifunction lever=-

let,s say your multifunction ain,t functioning right. rear barke lites ain,t illuminating. center high is. don,t want to tackle removing steering wheel. no problem=- just run a wire from the center high to each rear brake lite.

will it work is the question.

Just do it right and be done, you are destined to fail if you attempt a cobble job in this case.

It won't work anyways. You'd need to run a wire to both sides since each side has it's own circuit and even then your turn signals still won't work while your foot is on the brake pedal so that would really defeat the purpose. How many times do your use your turn signal without hitting your brakes? Perhaps during lane changes, but that's about it.

I don't see what the big deal is. It took me about an hour to install the turn signal switch in my 1995 Buick Regal a few years ago. I had minimal automotive experience at that time too. It's not that hard. I'd say the hardest part is getting the C-clip off that holds the lock plate on.

I'd probably rank it about a 3/10 in terms of overall difficulty if you have the right tools. You can rent a steering wheel puller and a lock plate hold-down tool from a local auto parts store for a net cost of free (requires deposit).
