MultiFunction Lever 85
Hi,
How much of a pain is it to replace a multifunction lever on an 85 Caprice ? I think the wiper controls may be worn out. Low, High, and intermittent don't work at all today. Yesterday they were working, but not properly. I can't see any screws to remove to get the lever out, or to remove the steering column. Thanks |

Re: MultiFunction Lever 85
find the wiring harness connection under the dash and disconnect them. Then just pull on the lever. It will come out.

Re: MultiFunction Lever 85
Are you sure it's the switch? How about checking the electronics under the hood on the wiper motor.
There's a circuit board that also causes problems. |

And if I use the high setting, the motor squeals and smoke comes out of the motor (or maybe the washerpump that is mounted to it) !!! I am serious. I'm afraid to use the high setting. Maybe the motor is going bad. Squealing is just not right. Would a bad motor make the wipers park after each sweep? Maybe the bad motor is screwing up the circuit board? Jeez. |

I ended up installing a new wiper motor too.
