Correct Blue for Omron Porsche 962C?

any place you can buy paint and body work supplies should be able to tell you. we done body work in one garage and the other work we had two garages for brakes,tuneups and what not so i would try there.

that's why it's worth making your initial question as detailed as possible.
if you had said that you were looking for a TS spray that might match in the first place, you would've gotten a more useful first response.

anyway.
if you want a colour match, the best method is to see if you can find a colour code for it and get it mixed up.
a lot of larger automotive supplies stores can mix you up the colour and put it in a spray can for you.

Thing is, I've seen a couple of different versions of the blue for the Omron car depending on the photo (depending on light and/or developing conditions).
French Blue looks like it might work according to some photos but in others, it looks a little too light/bright.

and here where the guys' overalls are the company colour but the car bodywork looks lighter.




My gut says you might want to try it over different primers (white/grey/light grey) and see which one looks best.

If you do decide to go with the colour matching method, my suggestion is to look for a version of the Omron company logo that has the colour you want and get the auto store to match that.

Thank you for the info, DM, but...

I said I was *hoping* for a TS color but I was not stuck on it, hence why I didn't specify in the beginning. If someone said Gunze or another company, I could handle it. I've been told that the colors of the decals are FAR off, so get the Studio 27 decals. I haven't used automotive colors before and would feel rather stupid going in a shop and asking for a match for Omron's blue (having a sample in hand). Remember, I'm in Kentucky here. If it's beyond Nascar, most people don't know or care.

and that's more info that you didn't give but should have at the beginning.
a few questions.

what doesn't the kit decals match; the real omron blue or the colour that the kit recommends?
do you know if the colour the kit recommends (not necessarily the same as the decals) is a good match for omron blue?
how certain are you that the studio 27 absolutely is omron blue?

with what you have said, i still think the best way to go is to get the decals and get an autoshop to see if they can match it.
i don't get why where you live has anything to do with whether or not an auto supplies store will match/make up the paint for you; it's their job.


going back to TS colours.
you might want to also try TS44 over the different primers as well because it's darker than french blue but again, this doesn't matter because what you really want is the colour to match whatever decals you will be using.

Amen! That's the truth especially in Southeast KY. A box stock NASCAR build with kit decals will have a group of people staring at it, while a 911 GT1 with a PE set and carbon fiber gets a glance as they walk by.

Hay now I live in Paducah, Ky, I would like to think I'm smarter then the average bear.
This is so TRUE we do live in nascar country,If it is not a nascar model you will get over looked.

If you can get me the paint code for the color you are needing I can get you a 2oz bottle for airbrushing or I can get you a full size can. Just let me know. I can tell you that if you do use an airbrush it is real simple to mix it. I have in the past use my spraygun to paint a model with no problems. Let me know if I can help you.

The decals are lighter than the TS-10 French Blue so I ditched them. I went with TS-10 over the TS white primer and TS Pure white...

I was pleasantly surprised this Fall in a couple of contests where some of my MotoGP bikes won and got a couple of 'Best Of...' awards. Maybe things are changing?
