Malibu wont start when cold
Chevrolet Malibu 2003 95000Km, V6.
Wont start when -5 or colder for the first start in the morning. With block heater for one hour, car start (not easily of coarse but start). Changed battery 2 years ago, checked it and it is OK Changed fuel pump and filter (AC Delco) a year ago. It should be ok. Changed sparks, cables, and air filter a week ago. Problem is still there. Any idea, please. Thank you |

Re: Malibu wont start when cold
I've changed coolant temperature sensor, it is little better, but the problem is not solved. It is still difficult to start if the temperature is -10C or lower.

Re: Malibu wont start when cold
Hi there, did you hear if the fuel pump turn on when you turned the key in the "on" position? If not it could be that malfunctioning. Another thing could be your timing belt. If it is not aligned, it could affect the way your engine starts.

Re: Malibu wont start when cold
You might want to try a bottle of heet in your gas. A car that I have would have a ton of troubles starting in the cold weather even tho last year it would start even when it was -30F. I put in a bottle of heet and topped off the gas and the problem went away. Might not fix your problem, but its only a few bucks to try it.

Re: Malibu wont start when cold
When I turn the key in the "on" position I hear the fuel pump, so I think the problem is not there.
For timing belt I cannot confirm. In that case would the problem be there only in cold weather ? I'm already using "heet" during winter. Thank you |
