No Heat

I purchased a 1988 toyota pick up, the heat in it does not work. The blower works on all settings but blows cold air.

Where should I start or any ideas what it is?

Thanks!

Re: No Heat

i'd start by changing thermostat. and when it cools off take cap off and see if it circulating because rad may be plugged or half plugged or need new heater core? is it over heating on you or loosing antifrezze? one more thing is acculator gumbed up. dose it blow out on all vents when you change settings?

Re: No Heat

it does not overheat, nor do I lose antifreeze. It does blow out of all vents when settings are changed.

Re: No Heat

Start by checking the coolant level.
Then make sure the heater valve on the firewall moves from heat to cool as you move the control on the dash.
If all that is OK you may have a clogged heater core.

Re: No Heat

Watch the valve for movement while someone moves the lever inside back and forth.
The lever and valve are connected by a cable, sometimes either cable or valve can freeze up.

Re: No Heat
