I have heard a rumor.
I have a 1993 Park Ave with 17k on the odo and I was talking to someone that says I should be looking to change the timing belt, because around 120k it could potentially be stretched enough to create havoc!
I was curious to any and all of your experiences? Thanks in advance. |

Re: I have heard a rumor.
If you have a 3.8 engine you have a timing chain not a belt.

Re: I have heard a rumor.
If your engine lasts long enough, the timing chain will eventually stretch enough to jump and skip a tooth. Usually the results are not catastrophic, the car will suddenly run very poorly, if at all.
However, this usually happens with considerably more mileage than 120k. IMO you don't have to worry about this for a while. |
