Unhappy some of you in the Tri-state area may have heard

But for all of you who didn't know, I go to Blair Academy in New Jersey. It's a private college preperatory boarding school in Warren County NJ, which is northwestern NJ.

One of my friends, and the my team captain of the football team was severely injured this past weekend at a varsity game against Hill. His name is Kurt Socha, and he's a senior day student here at Blair. Thought you would like to know what happened from someone who goes to Blair, because this story is hitting the headlines, radio and TVs in the metro area.

Here's the article from the Star Ledger.

http://www.nj.com/news/ledger/jersey...350.xml&coll=1

nobody knows if he will make it or not, we just know that he barely pulled through two nights and is in a coma but stable at the Morristown Hospital.

This had a great effect in the Blair community, as some of you remember my thread about a bunch of kids got kicked out of my school for doing weed last year, and how everyone was affected by it. This is actually worse, i saw faculty and fellow students shed tears ( new freshmen and new students and returning alike) and didn't even know the kid, or knew him from pre-season football or the whole season. Some faculty also didn't know the kid, but they witnessed it and couldn't hold themselves together. It's particularly difficult for me as well since I had spent two football pre-season and regular seasons with him. I don't know what more to say......its pretty straight foward in the article.

35 views and noone responds? What is wrong with everyone? How can you all be such jackasses when someone who is close to a member is hurt? Thatroundheadedkid isn't as popular a member as someone like Andy was, but hes still a member of the community and deserves our sympathy.

I'm sorry to hear this Chris, lets hope Kurt makes a full recovery and is on his feet real soon

Thanks tman, I really appreciate your response and your defense and for jumping out to say something. I ask everyone who reads this to pray for Kurt.

Here's the article on my school's website:

That's terrible. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your friends family. How exactly was he struck in the head to cause this much damage? It's very scary.

Here's the quote from the Star Ledger:

You know, we are allowed to read and don't have to post to be sympathetic.

Exactly, I clicked on this thread and while I'm sympathetic for the guy and hope he pulls through, it really doesn't affect me.

Re: some of you in the Tri-state area may have heard

True, response is voluntary, but if you were hurt and turned to the forums that have been so good to you for support, wouldn't you feel like crap if noone responds? Even if you say you wouldn't post it here because its none of our business, imagine if a friend said no when you wanted to talk to them about something on your mind.

Jeez, just show a little empathy for a fellow member. Kurt doesn't affect me, but I don't wish him to die.

I don't think ANY of us wish him to die, we probably all wish him well, but just don't feel obliged to post up lip service.

Re: some of you in the Tri-state area may have heard

I see what you're saying Oz.

I just think its a little pitiful that 35 members looked at the thread and noone responded. Whenever I see a bad news thread i dont usually respond unless a few folks have already done so, but this one just bothered me for some reason.

Lets not ruin the man's thread, whats the latest update Chris?
