Floor shifter solenoid problem
97 Blazer 2nd Generation. 116k miles 4.3LTR.
Have the floor shifter. The interlock solenoid in the shifter has been acting up. Doesn't want to release. When I press on the brake, it will flutter in and out. Is the solenoid bad or something else I should look at. Thanks for the help. |

Re: Floor shifter solenoid problem
Could be the solenoid, the switch, or a poor connection.

Re: Floor shifter solenoid problem
I've had at least two of these get gummed up and fail from someone spilling a beverage onto the shifter. When the water evaporates all that is left is the sticky, gooey syrup which freezes the solenoid very nicely. Clean water and an air hose solved that in both cases.

Re: Floor shifter solenoid problem
Looks like it was a combination. First, which I can't believe, was a broken, loose wire. Second I used some electrical spray to free up the gummyness. Works like a charm now. Thanks for the info.
