Want to Convert; Auto Steering Column Shifter to B&M Auto Floor Shifter

Hey guys, what's up? I Have a '74 Chevelle Malibu 4-Door Coupe, & It's got a 400 Small-Block motor & It's got a 3-Speed Auto Trans. now, this 3-Speed Auto Tranny is FLAWLESS...& I Don't Want to switch the Full-Transmision...but I Wanna switch the Auto Tranny Shifter from Up at the Steering Coloumn to like a B&M MegaShifter or something along those lines... What would be involved with making that Switch??

Re: Want to Convert; Auto Steering Column Shifter to B&M Auto Floor Shifter

It's not real difficult but attention to details will make sure you don't have any regrets. You'll have to cut a hole in the tunnel - which will need to be carefully done to keep the noise and moisture down. You'll have to select the proper length shifter cable to avoid getting sloppy or oversensitive shift feel. You'll have to convert your neutral safety switch wiring. And the reverse light indicator wiring. Sometimes the wiring is incredibly difficult to reach without disassembling the entire steering column.
Then you've got to deal with the old shifter on the column, or it'll look silly to still have it there, or remnants of it. So plan on a few days worth of work?
