Question two questions

what the title says, when i drive the car for bout 15 minutes, it revs up when i put the clutch in or let it idle, it revs way up to like 3 grand but i can pull the gas peddle back and it idles fine? any suggestions.

And another thing, i just replaced my main relay cause when it was hot it wouldnt start. Those things are alomost impossible to get at!!!

Anyways my second question, is my stero system, i have two JL 12" WO's with a 650 watt kenwood amp. I was turning it up to see how loud i could get it without being able to handle it when i get to about 12 or 13 on my deck and the deck goes up to 30, the amp clicks and turns off and on again when the bass hits. Would the be a power issue or is my amp screwed. Cause the amp works great up till bout 13 and whenever the bass hits it turns off, and once the bass leaves it turns back on. 13 is pretty loud but im just curious to find out whats going on. thnx

your amp cant handle the load when it clicks ... its an internal breaker so you dont blow the amp, so it resets itsself. 650 is pretty weak for those jl's you got, cause they can handle a lot more.

I haven't had to mess with any of that before, but it sounds like you have a weak spring that's supposed to pull your pedal (or your throttle-cable) back to the idle position.
Look for a spring somewhere, either on the pedal itself, or where the cable end sticks out and attaches to the throttle body.
Flunky
PS-Better yet, look for a place where a spring used to be, or a place where one could hook on.

the amp may be straining for power and shutting itself off like when it overheats, what guage power and ground wire are you using?

He is right, I've installed my own stuff for a long time now, nicely. And by the way turn your speakers around and face them towards your rear end...keep em about 12-18 inches away from your back panel and you should have a dramatic difference. The bass will bounce off your back panel and glass and come back and hit you way louder, trust me, just try it and tell me what you think.

quicksilver, that is if you don't have the cover on the back. And also if your at a DB contest, turn your subs facing the front of the car and fold your seats down, it will help you gain a little bit on the DB meter.

But yes, it sounds like either your amp is starving for power, or its just overheating and shuting off. Check and see if the amp is hot when it starts doing that. And please tell us what gauge wire you are running.

Your subs are Dual Voice Coils right? i think i remember you saying they were, so yea, 650 should be plenty for those subs. I don't think the W0's can take a whole lot melt, they are JL's lowest model, so I wouldn't push them that hard. I had 2 SVC W0's and I would only run about 500 watts to them.

HEY FIERCECIVIC.

I had the exact same problem with the gas pedal. i took my car to Honda and they replaced the Accelerator(Throttle) Cable. Cost me $30 for parts and $30 for labour. I haven't had any problems since, hope this helps.

aiight, ill try the spring thing first, what "4 door" said. i have a few springs lying around anyways

Im not sure what guage the wire is for my ground and power, i think my ground and power is 14 guage, and my p control is 16 guage. The amp is sort of warm but not HOT, i was kinda thinking that it wasnt getting enough power , because a 650 watt amp should pump out enough bass to keeep me from staying in the car

And tony, my subs are SVC, because when i took them outta the box, i noticed the only had two wires going to the vioce coil, the positive and the negitive. But the wierd thiung is that there are two positive ports and two negitive ports, thats why i thought it was DVC.

thnx for the replies guys

well don't pay attention to the wires themselve, maybe the people before you just didn't have the second voice hooked up. If there are 2 + and 2 - on each sub, a place to hook a wire up to, then you have DVC, if not, then yes its a SVC.

And 14 and 16 gauge wire, boy you need to run some 8 gauge wire for that shit at least. That is probably why its shutting off.

ur definatly losing power through those puny wires, get at least 8ga, and even better just go 4ga and run some distribution blocks like i did, you'll never have to rerun your wires again.
