Two questions about engine noise
OK, i've got a 91 standard hatchback if that makes any difference...
First question: While I idle in neutral, it sounds like the belts are making a weird spungie kind of noise. Like swish/swash/swish/swash... Any ideas? Do I need to replace the belts? Second question: While i'm idling in neutral there's a really quiet ping noise that happens at kind of random intervals, and disapears as i get past 1.2k then comes back loud at 2-3k. It's hard to describe the noise, and I'm sure it could be a million different things... but does anybody know what are some possiblities on what it is? Thanks for your guys's help!! |

engine noise
yes u should replace the belts or put belt dressing on them determind by the condition of them and the pinging could be that u need a valve ajustment which u can learn how to do with a chiltons manual on your car
it should have all the specs on it. or take it to a shop. out in ny it costs 40 bucks. make sure u let it sit over night before messing w/them |
