HVAC control unit bulbs
I have the digital controlled HVAC unit.
Are the bulbs soldered in, how many are, and where should I get them? I had one burn out a week or so ago, and quite truthfully its annoying the crap out of me. Thank for any info!!!

Re: HVAC control unit bulbs
Check you local electronics supply store. Ask about CM8099 lamps or CM7219 lamps. The 7219 is a 12V and 8099 is 18V. Since GM charging systems often approach 15V, the 12V lamps don't always last as long, but the 18V lamps aren't quite as bright. I use the 8099s in radios and instruments and never have to change them twice.

Re: HVAC control unit bulbs
What about installing LEDs in the control head, then you will not have to worry about burning out the led.

Re: HVAC control unit bulbs
LED's might work but sort of a pain in the butt because of the resister. Plus the HVAC unit is something that I can't just take out and run without untill I have it back together. Just want something without a hassle and to be cost effective.

Re: HVAC control unit bulbs
Hey Tim. All of mine but one burned out and I replaced them all with LEDs. It looks okay, but because of the limited beam pattern of an LED, the backlighting isn't as even as I would like. There are five bulbs that all need to be soldered in (if I remember right), and I'd go with standard bulbs if you didn't want to try to get fancy and solder in SMD chips (those would probably give you the light output you'd need).

Re: HVAC control unit bulbs
Sounds good, thanks guys, I'll probably go with regular bulbs.
