The easiest way to lose weight is to strip the interior. Got fancy carpetting? get rid of it. Got a back seat you never use? get rid of it.
It is actually legal in every state I know of to replace glass windows with plexiglass/acryllic EXCEPT for the windshield which must always be glass.
Lighter wheels, certainly. Basically, if you don't actually need it, it's just adding weight so you can get rid of it. Personally, I'd keep my spare wheel and it's associated equipment, it sounds like this is still going to be your everyday car.

If you want to go crazy:
Remove power steering
Remove Air conditioning
carbon fiber bodypanels
get rid of the passenger seat
replace drivers seat with lightweight racing seat
remove carpeting
lighter wheels
remove tar and sound deadening material
remove speakers and radio
remove backseats if you have them.
remove spare tire and jack
remove heat sheilds (be careful with this)

Power steering is for wussies anyway.

this thread was started as what seemed to be a lame joke,

kinda like, "wanna know how to lose 10 ugly pounds of useless weight? ......... cut off your head"

hahahahaha

yeah...

if you're racing, do it with 1/4 tank or less...

gas is about 8lbs./ gallon...

drain your windshield washer fluid...

have fun...

if you have ever seen the aspire you'd know its a go-cart with a radio standerd. It would be fun as a 2 seater tho. and sadly it is a everyday driver. btw gas is 7 lb/ gal and water is 7.5 lb/ gal

A rotary engine probably could fit, but it'd take alot of modification to do.
