Titanium Exhausts??

I want to paint the exhaust on my GTR to look like titanium. I also have a metal N1 muffler on the car and I was wondering if it was possible to paint the muffler titanium and get a good result. I dont want the paint to be glossy looking because titanium exhausts look quite dull and I would like to get the welded affect (coloured affect) on the tip of the muffler. Any suggestions?

You could get some of ModelMaster's titanium metalizer and spray the exhaust, it should give you the finish you're wanting.

Well, looking at my titanium watch, I'd say your best bet in a bottle would be testor's steel (kinda a brownish silver). That stuff is a little too shiny though, so maybe you can hit it with a dull coat of some sort.

If you have an airbrush let me suggest using Alclad II. Check their website for info on the color you're looking for. I'm sure they'll have it or something very close to it.

not really.

the muffler body is ti as well.

it's apex, so it's a real ti system, not some ricer muffler with a ti tip.

the tubing should be ti as well, though it's not the rule.

why do you think ti exh's are touted as being so much lighter than their steel counterparts?

not b/c it's just a ti tip...

I third that. The muffler is titanium. The exhaust has been painted in flat black so I am guessing that it is only mild steel as people dont tend to paint over titanium systems.
