Engine questions

I have a 94 Honda Civic Si. I have some engine quesions. First what is the difference between DOHC and SOHC. And second, I know my engine is D16Z6- 1.6L SOHC VTEC- 92-95 Civic EX/Si (125hp). I know the B series is the hot series. How does the D series compare to it? Thanks.

SOHC stands for single overhead cam, and a DOHC stand for dual overhead cam. so that means a sohc has 1 cam and a dohc has 2 cams, 2 is always better tahn 1

well the b motors are better than teh d, i think the motor u choose depends on what the plans are for your car, i mean if u wanna turn it into a 10 sec racer then go b, but if u want just like a 13 sec car, go d. but thats my opinion on the matter.

this is gonna turn into B vs D again...

b series motors come w/ better power outta the box, but don't cut the d-series motor short at all.

one of the biggest differences is the way the VTEC pulls. the SOHC VTEC, u'll hardly even notice, but if u sit in b16a/b18c powered car, u'll hear/feel the car scream when it kicks.

i agree w/ civickiller...u want a car that has limits, but will run into 13's...stay SOHC.

u want to get past those times, swap in the DOHC motor.
