2002 Subaru Impreza WRX

i didn't think wrx's are that fast.... i seen a souped up one on the street today and it picked up just about as good as a 5.0, prolly better. it sounded mean.

im impressed. just checked stats and they do:
0-60: 5.4
1/4 Mile: 14.1
1/4 Speed: 96

Yeah, they do pretty good off the line.. AWD helps out. But from what i've been told and read they have a tendency to fall off on the top end... But I'm sure they hold their own.

Neato cars.

i think you're right on that redneck, when he was at the light he took off nicely, but when he was trying to weave in and out of traffic trying to catch up to me he was a little pokey. or should i say "slow"... for a 14.1 sec car. that's whats nice about the 240, it keeps climbing strong all the way to the loss

Well a friend of mine has an 02 and its not a slug. I was really suprised at how well it runs. He ran a 12.9 at 103 with just some tweaking to the computer and exhaust. We recently did a turbo upgrade and intercooler. And he has a intercooler spray kit on the way. We should find out what it will run on friday night. Ill post up with the numbers

I never liked the WRX's, they are too boxy and overrated. I think that the STi coming out in the middle of this year will change my mind though. 300 hp and a restyled front end that looks better in my opinion. I've read many comparison road tests between it and the lancer evolution, it should be interesting.

I am in the 11's with my WRX and I am slow.
STi is going to be powerful, however, I am going to wait and see how the "new" 2.5L turbocharged engine is going to hold up. I am still leaning toward a drivertrain swap from JDM STi ( 2.0 L)

subaru's are highly sprung and top end in such cars is non existant they usually use really close ration gearbox's anything over 100mph it isn't so quick.

It's only fast if you know how to drive it

first of stock 5.0's are slow. and a wrx can take any stock mustang except for the SVT's, cobra's, and mach1. they can easily take out GT's in a drag. and they can hold there own on the highend since mustangs got no highend either. and those numbers 0-60 in 5.4 second and 1/4 mile in 14.1 those were the specs of the car 2 years ago. its not even the updated 02 specs.

I don't believe the 14.1 for a stock wrx because last year at the drags I never saw a wrx do better than 15.0 they usually ran around 15-15.5 and they weren't beating the 99+ mustang GT's, of course I live in utah and u never know where they did the drag tests for that 1/4 mile time of 14.1

The WRX and the Lan Evo both have short gearing, suitable for sprinting and tight courses.

The WRX has really good power potential, but it is seriously heavy compared to other 2 liter cars. It's weight is well over 3000 lbs, and that puts it in the same league as 3 liter cars, like the Supra and 300ZX...

A wrx shouldnt have any trouble with a stock 94-98 GT but, the 99 and newer Gts would take a wrx, even though the wrx would probably pull a much better 60ft time.
