1/8 Entex Lotus 72...

Just saw a 1/8 Entex John Player Special Lotus 72 in Ebay and as I'm writing this, it's going at just above US$200. I'm just curious if is this kit is a collectors item? Sorry if this is out of topic

Just checked and there's also a 1/8 Entex McLaren M23 with a "buy it now" of $1200+!!!!

They are big with the collectors, but not worth it IMHO.

Now find me a Clearview MP4/6....

I don't have a clearview Mclaren but I was lucky enough to get a clearview Ferrari 641 for $90.00 at a hobby shop that has since went out of business. It's nice because it has both a clear and red plastic top and it also has the Marlboro decals not in the regular kit.

Re: 1/8 Entex Lotus 72...

Hi I have one of these un-built, check out the modelers classifieds if ya like. I would love to build it but at my age I couldn't do it the justice it deserves and as seen built by others on this site. Oh I build a lot of models still, but that's a big project and I've built many 1/12th F1 cars already. I just finished building a 20-40 M ham transceiver and am presently building the Revell Visble V8 adding the Renwall spark plug lights and DC motor.

TY

Ronald.... do you realise your responding to a 9 year old thread?

Three posts in one day to try and sell your kit... a bit excessive maybe?

Btw, if you would like to get an idea of what your kit is worth, the last UNBUILT, UNSTARTED version on ebay ended at £248... about $390USD.

Regards, Dan

Thats an real realistic price for a new kit.
I got three in my stash.
One is badly build.
One is slightly build and the other is nearly new.

For the last 2 i spend 300$ 1 year ago on ebay us.
The build one cost me 120€ with an build lotus 49 and a lotus 72 new.

I now that this are very cheap prices and i watched some kits going to ebay for about 300€.
The last one was an build one for about 700€ i saw.
I dont think that you are able to get 3000$ bucks for an normaly build one.Maybe you make an jochen rindt conversion car?

Just my two cents!

Christian

No actually Dan I didn't know that, I am very aware of what this kit is worth in pristine or sort of started like mine. I assumed your posts like started on the first and not the last page, eh?
Plus your/this site is not the most simplest to understand. I am a master kit builder as well my son (who is on this site and I) completely restored a 1990 SC as well I built a model of that. So I take your reply as an a bit of an insult. I didn't come here to sell the kit, I found the posts of another member building one so I thought I would offer it for someone to build. Attempt 1 put me on page 5 attempt 2 on page 6 gee how do ya post on page 1??????? Dan you may not be interested in this kit but others might it is very rare, do you understand that? AND as a MASTER BUILDER for over 40 years I want to see someone build it not sell it on EBAY, UNDERSTAND! No, unless your a model builder. The variety of things I have offered to trade for it should also show you the word SELL is an insult to me. Maybe you should be a better member Dan and have less to do than criticize newbie attempts to post, read the post carefully and THINK, ANALYZE then respond with maybe a little help in posting rather than insulting someone you don't even now assuming I joined this site just to sell this kit.

Regards,

Ronald

Sorry Ronald, but not every day you found one person who had enough money to buy everything he wants to buy.

I watched a lot of auctions in ebay with entex or edai grip lotus.
There are some going over the top.but you can always found some for a good price.
As i told before,i got 2 for 300$.Thats way of your price range.

I wish you a lot of luck, maybe you found someone who wants one for your price?

Christian

side note, it sounds like your forum sorting may have gotten changed. On the thread view page, click on the column header for "last post". that should flip it so new posts will appear at the top of page 1.

Ive done the same thing on other forums by accident, I wonder for a while why the threads are never changing

Re: 1/8 Entex Lotus 72...

I'm in the UK, and would offer to build the kit for you and then let you have it back if you were over here.
I too am a modeller of almost 50 years and currently review/build/write modelling articles in a few magazines including Airfix modellers world and 4 Small Wheels.
I fully understood you weren't trying to sell the kit for hyper-money.
If I had anything worth exchanging it for, I'd offer it.
I currently have numerous unbuilt 1/12 Tamiya cars (including the Lotus 72) and the 1/8 Sting Ray, and 1/8 E-Type, plus DOZENS of assorted 1/16, 1/20, 1/24, 1/32 and 1/43 kits (around 60+ kits in all)
Good luck with whatever you do with the Lotus.
Roy.

You may be confused, you bought 2 of these for $300.00

You see this is the kit I have, same model # too, new in the box 1255.00 euro, sorry.
I've backed up my words care to try doing the same. Nah then you'd have to eat crow and explain why you have this need to discredit my add.

Hi Roy thanks for your kind words and input. It is obvious you are also a very experienced builder and like you I have as many un-built kits. But realizing I had one of these well F1- 1/8th scale Entex models I thought I’ll never ever have the time to build this so why not see if there is an F1 enthusiast out there that wants to build and not collect this kit. Roy look around the loft I’m into some weird stuff, I forgot to mention a neat steam engine kit would do the trick for a swap, anything unusual to build or to help me build something else unusual. LoL BTW the E, type you mention is that the 1/8th scale Jaguar kit Monogram put out along time ago with wind up windows? Anyway I even have the original receipt from the hobby store it was bought at in Dec. of 1977, I even knew the kid, his grandfather bought it for him and I traded the kid something for it 2 years later in the condition it sits today, some 32 years later.

Regards,

Ronald P. UEL

You have not seen my work! I get 3,000.00 for scratch building 1/4" buildings and once got asked to build the Yankee Stadium in 1/4" scale..Asked one question, do ya want people and a game going on? "Yes", was the answer. My reply then was well if your not expecting to spend at least 50,000 (Thats dollars BTW) don't bother me again! So ya bought some parts of the Entex kit, eh. Hmmm Did you get enough parts to build one kit? Sounds like you didn't. Want to part with an exhaust tube since you have so many? And I guess if ya do you won't want much for it as according to you, you got a (what) oh ya stash of them kits. BTW Mr. I watch Ebay auctions a lot, did you know John Player 1/8th F1 decals alone are going for $130.00..on Ebay. What year ya in man, what year..Peace

Ronald
