Question Hard Shifting 91 Civic DX Automatic

I just bought a bone-stock 91 Civic DX with an automatic transmission. It shifts really hard from first to second, and just a little less hard from second to third. The engine mounts have been replaced and are good. I have been told that Civics sift hard, but I was wondering if there could be something else wrong, or an adjustment I could make to help it out. Any Ideas?

Give it a tune up.
Top off all the fluids including the tranny fluid. That might make shifting a little easier.

Mine's a 90 DX hatch and I have the same problem. It shifts hard from 1st to 2nd and when stopping from whatever to first. Transmission fluid is fine etc. One day when I have enough courage I'll go get it checked out but right now I'm not ready for a "your transmission is screwed, that will be $xxxx.xx".

I have been lucky enough to never own a Honda slush box, but i would try changing the fluid and if that dosen't help, time for a new one.
