Angry 92 STS Trans Issues HELP!

Hey folks,

Just got my 1992 STS out of storage and was all looking forward to cruising around only to find my baby has issues. First of all it wouldnt go into reverse. No grinding no noise whatsoever just no reverse. Neutral is fine. Put it into drive and find out I only have second gear no first no thrid no od just second gear. After some checking and calling around I find that the speed sensor MAY be the culprit. I have my brother swap out the speed sensor and lose the only gear I do have left. Here is where it gets goofier. We pull the trans fuse out of the underhood fuse panel and suddenly second gear is back. No other gears but second gear came back. Put the fuse back in and nothing. No trouble codes come up when you hook it up to the computer. I am at a total loss and starting to get a tad bit p!$$3d off. Any help or suggestions you guys have would be greatly appreciated. The transmission shop says its the tranny but my diagnosis skills as a heavy diesel mechanic say its something electrical or maybe shift servo related.

Thanks for any help.

Zltful

Transmission acting weird

The first thing you should check is the transmission fluid level. Check the transmission cooler hoses for leaks. P.

no drive

First check fluid level/color. How long was BABY sitting, if it was a while a ball check could be sticking or the seals could be cracked. Where was BABY stored, small animals love to chew wiring. Your tranny shifts by solinoids, check the insulation!
