Re: BMW-Williams FW-24 Project...

Good luck getting it finished by Saturday. I look forward to seeing it done. The seat and harness look great.

Your blue paint colour looks an excellent match to that photo, how does it compare to the kit decals?

If you think the blue is too dark, it probably is. I remember that I read some where that matching colour in from 1:1 to 1:20 should not be exact. The colour in scale should look a bit brighter than the actual colour. Is it called the scaling effect?

Re: BMW-Williams FW-24 Project...

yes
you use 10% white on 48 scale airplanes to give the fading effect, but I dont think I needed it for this scale I think I can live with it

edit:

Side pods are cf'ed, cf ing front arms

Re: BMW-Williams FW-24 Project...

Speeding up the building process as I have one day left to build this thing...

Here are the wheels and tires... they just need the final gloss coat...

This is how the chassis looks like at the moment from the bottom side..the top needs to be finished. The middle section is painted XF-57 buff as the manual suggests

Here is the radiator finished. Silicon hose is made by painting a thick layer og GS Paint and I wrapped chrome foil tape over it for the hose claps..

I have most of the complex cfing done so it should be relatively easy from now on... only the painting is left ... I have the white base and the first coat on the car at the moment. I will let the base dry as much as possible and do a wet on wet paint job just like real car then top it with gloss. and hope everything holds on

Re: BMW-Williams FW-24 Project...

Argh! Have a nice rest!! (you and the paint!-better for it to dry between two coats!)
I didn't managed to see the pics on the site: I did understand nothing! If they're not supposed to be on the first page, in which thread of the forum (that's what it is, isn't it?) are they supposed to be?...

Talking

Well It has been just too long since my last update but I just was not in the mood to look at the car.

Anyway I finally got to work on the car. Placed the right brake assembly on the arms as well. Finished CF job on the back end of the trans.

Just need to finish the cf'ing on the brakes and touch up the arms. Then on to adding the parts to the transmision and the engine.

Looks good still Toughbeard. I have this kit and the Lion Roar photo-etch set for it. I will be watching yours for the final outcome. I guess I should order up the cf too.

Re: BMW-Williams FW-24 Project...

CF looks really good. The suspension arms look like a royal paint to template and CF. You are doing great so far. The infamous little thing that ruins a paintjob happens to the best of us(trust me). Keep up the good work!

Re: BMW-Williams FW-24 Project...

Looking good, are you using decal for the carbon fibre or spraying through a mesh? Either way it's great work.
