Which new car would u buy a SRT-4, WRX sti, Lancer EVO?

as polygon said a few posts back, the motors are reliable, as dodge has much experience with turbo'd motors.

there shouldn't be an issue.

dodge wouldn't build them with such an all encompassing warranty if they thought they'd be in for service constantly.

people downplay the neon b/c they heard about something bad that happened... to a few cars...

there've been quite a few, 100 or so, e46 m3's that have blown motors from valves touching the pistons...

why isn't anyone hating on the m3 b/c of this problem?

Agreed, theres no reason to hate on the SRT-4, people keep saying that its too cheap when in reality its only 3k less than a wrx, and nobody ever says a word about them.

I'd get the EVO b/c of its conventional engine design (compared to the WRX) and its AWD(which the SRT-4 does not have). IMO, I think it's a great setup for some killer mods that would make it a street/strip dominator.
But I take nothing away from the SRT-4 its a great car and for that price WOW! It's nice to finally see a domestic compact with some real balls.

I'd take the srt. Wanna know why, cuz I only got $20,000 and because I'm a 18 year old kid who has earned his ass of the last three years. The one thing I hate is that most kids who have fast cars only have them because their Daddies bought them. That shit is so annoying.


Anyways, in the 20K range, you could get a 03 SRT-4, a 02-03 WRX, and Evo's are out of the question.

WRX fans like to point out the nicer interior features of their WRX, how they think it looks better, an how they have AWD. That's a nice comback, but its a shame the SRT-4 had to stop and wait for you to catch up before you could say it.

If you wanna save money and not get an overpopular dick car get a SRT-4, and if you have enough money, upgrade it to kick the shizzle out of an Evo.

You should be comparing the srt to the rsx type s , masda speed, etc not the lancer and the sti, those cars will rape the srt in every category, including price.

Wrx STi:300-hp @ 6,000 rpm, 300 lb.-ft. of torque @ 4,000rpm
Lancer Evo : 271 hp@6500 , 273lb, -ft of torque @ 3500 rpm

Exactly, you can't put the srt in the same class with an sti and evo, for one they are both 30k, compared to the srt at 20, I think we all agree that if we had the money, the evo or the wrx is a better car. The problem is that not many other cars can even compare to the srt, the mazdaspeed protege is more expensive and a lot slower. You just cant find a car faster than the srt 4. The only thing to compare it to is a standard wrx.

They are faster, but they are also about 10k more. So no, not the price. With 10k you could make that SRT faster than any of those. And STILL have some change back.

Yeah with 10 k you might be able to make it faster then the evo and sti, but as far as handling goes, no chance.

I think with the new lsd that may or may not be stock on the 2004, the srt will improve its handling quite a bit, then if you really wanted to, new struts and a few other options would probably equal or better the sti or evo. All included in the 10 grand extra by the way.

The SRT-4 is doing pretty damn well in its class in SCCA Rally. Also it isn't much slower than the STi and Evo in the slalom, 64.3 to 68 something for the other two. That's not to bad considering the Neon is FWD and it has no LSD like the other two do.

Also how can you say the other two are better for the price, that is plain stupid. I don't feel that the Neon should be compared to these two cars because they are in a different class, not performance, but price. The Neon isn't far behind them so I wish people would stop being ignorant and open their eyes.

There just seem to be a lot of rumors and lies spread out of fear by people who thought that their car was so superior and now they are getting beaten by a Neon that cost a lot less.

because people are ignorant of the srt, u can use it to ur advantage. smoke the wrx as often as u can, and then word of mouth will carry it around once they realize its a stock car. then soup it up. get stage 2, lsd, and suspension. itll take time, but theyll see this car as legit soon enough.
