Neat work-around there 'beard and a great buildup so far!
The way I create templates is to use a low-tack masking tape (I prefer the new Tamiya rice paper tape) and simply create the template by laying the tape onto the part and then using the edge of a colored pencil to mark the actual outline of the part onto the tape. Then pull the tape off and either create your template from cardstock or put the tape directly onto the decal sheet and trim away. I'm using this technique to create the carbon fiber test mule of the Porsche GT1 Evo out of the Revell Champion Porsche kit... Bill |

I recieved the hardener and the thinner for the glasurit paints the day before and just got around to do a test on a piece of scrap strene....
if you wait for more than 5 mins in the pot, then I noticed I neet to put thinner in, but if I use the paint as soon as I mix it with the hardener, it is thin enought to be used from my badger, but I thing a tiny drop of thinner will improve things. The paint has orange peels and all sorts of bumps and dust, as I didnt do any cleaning I just wanted to test the paint...I am waiting to see if the paint thinner will warp the plastic as well...

Thanks try my best to be useful while eating up bandwidth ![]() Here is a picture of the sheet after wet sanding with 2000 grid and polishing with tamiya compound... It still need time to cure but I am pretty confident now that I can pull this paint job off. This paint is very durable so it can take some beating from this rookie.

Re: BMW-Williams FW-24 Project...
Hi 'Beard, coming together very well!
Is that paint you've got metallic? Doesn't look to be in the pics, or maybe the Williams isn't truly metallic ![]() By front suspension do you mean the steering rack and reservoirs visible when the nose is removed? I've got a couple of pics of in there, but not much, the teams like to cover those bits up! PM me your email addy and I'll scan and send what I've got. |

Re: BMW-Williams FW-24 Project...
I have those
I would love to see the shocks on the front (they are underneat the cover on top of the nose) and I need a close up of the rear shocks... I seen another photo of the engine but it is from a distance and low quality... So in some cases the this can be a FW-24tb (Toughbeard version)

Hello Again, sorry for the lack of updates but I have been quite busy with work. Finally got the chance to work on the car again...
As you know I got the paint mixed at BMW here in Turkey, and I have been itching to try it out. I did a test try but you know it was not very good looking. I had some doubts about the color as well until I found a close up of the car... Here is the front wing after painting, decals and a light coat of gloss coat. ![]() here is the bottom of the wing which is covered with cf decal. ![]() I then moved to the cockpit. I painted the seat with mr color s gundam color paints (GP-01 blue) which I think is a close match to the ugly blue williams uses I applied CF decals to the sides of the seat and the cockpit walls and the front bulk head. The seat belts that came with the kit had good detail but was toy looking, and the photoetch seatbelts studio27 supplied were just too flat so I decided to use a mixture. I actually dumped the tamiya seat belts and made the shoulder straps from styrene and used the studio27 seat belts. I glued the styrene on the seat belts, added some detailing on the seatbelts and placed them on the seat... I am much happier now ![]() Right side of the cockpit: ![]() Steering wheel bulk head: ![]() seat: ![]() ![]() cockpit: ![]() This is where I am at right now... I am going back to work as I need to finish this kit by saturday
